- green cabbageseparated into leaves16 oz
- crushed tomatoes2 cup
- yellow onionfinely diced1/2
- garlic powder1 tsp
- canola oil4 tsp
- kosher salt1 tsp
- black pepper1/2 tsp
Instructions
- Finely dice the onion and separate the cabbage leaves. Simmer the lentils in water until tender, then drain well.
- Do not rinse the turkey. Pat it dry, season it with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then wash your hands with soap and water.
- Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and a pinch of salt. Cook until translucent and softened, about 4-5 minutes. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and simmer until slightly reduced, about 5-7 minutes.
- Combine the turkey and lentils. Place the mixture inside the cabbage leaves and roll them closed. Set the rolls in the tomato sauce, cover, and cook over medium-low heat until the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C), about 18-22 minutes. Wash the skillet, knife, board, and your hands with soap and water after handling the raw turkey.
- Taste the sauce and adjust with salt and pepper before serving.
